One of September’s biggest stories so far is the news that GoDaddy have purchased ManageWP, one of the most popular WordPress management tools around. GoDaddy have made a few interesting acquisitions lately but ManageWP is the most significant so far.
GoDaddy’s Senior Vice President, Jeff King, shared a blog post about the news earlier this month and his excitement was palpable. He singled out ManageWP’s product, Orion, as a release that has ‘blown away the market’ and stated that ‘If you don’t know ManageWP and are a WordPress professional, get ready to be excited’.
The ManageWP team work from an office in the central of Belgrade, Serbia, and King confirmed there are to be no changes to the team, though they will be expanding the office space in the next few months.
Something else that won’t be changing is ManageWP’s price point – it will remain free and a number of the currently paid for premium features will be made free for GoDaddy Pro members. The plan is for some of ManageWP’s most popular features, like backups, staging and site migrations to be integrated into GoDaddy’s currently WordPress hosting.
King promises, ‘it’s going to be awesome’, and from the sound of their early plans we’re not going to disagree.
