Pirate Forms, a WordPress form plugin with over 300,000 installs, has recently been acquired by WPForms in an all-cash deal, announced last week on International Talk Like a Pirate Day (very fitting). Rather than preserve the plugin in its current form, WPForms have announced the Pirate Forms plugin will be retired and a simple migration path to WPForms has been included in the newest update.
ThemeIsle, the development team behind Pirate Forms, released a statement on their website to discuss the acquisition and what it means for Pirate Form users:
If you want to keep using Pirate Forms, you can. But keep in mind that the WPForms team only promises to maintain the plugin for any major security issues for the next 6 months. There will be no feature updates apart from that.
Migrating your forms to WPForms is a lot better idea.
Compared to Pirate Forms, WPForms offers a modern form building tool and loads of integrations with outside services such as email marketing tools, payment gateways, and more. Most importantly, it does so while not making the main contact form feature difficult to grasp.
