Last week saw the release of WordPress 4.8 Beta 1, the initial beta for next month’s release of WordPress 4.8. This is only a small update but does feature three enhancements.
The first improvement testers will notice is an enhanced visual editor experience, featuring a new TinyMCE that makes navigation more intuitive. Next up, a revamped dashboard news widget will highlight upcoming WordPress events, including regional meet ups and WordCamps. Finally, new media widgets have been debuted, featuring images, audio and video, as well as an improved text widget that will support visual editing.
The aim of this latest update is to make it simpler to edit posts with links, improve widgets and make them more convenient to use, and to make WordPress users more aware of the many community events scheduled to take place around the globe.
The 4.8 beta is available for testing now, using the beta tester plugin.
