As the release of WordPress 5.0 draws closer, we’ve been treated to our first sneak peek of the new Twenty Nineteen default blog theme that will be included with the release.
When it comes to the functionality and performance of the theme, the team behind Twenty Nineteen confirmed it will come with full Gutenberg support. The main focus of the theme is ‘simple, sophisticated typography’, and the team had the following to say in their Twenty Nineteen preview post:
The theme’s aesthetic is minimal and non-prescriptive, allowing the theme to work well in a variety of applications. For example: it is effective as an minimal, typography-driven blogging theme, but can also be adapted for use as a static business website.
WordPress 5.0 (including both Twenty Nineteen and Gutenberg) is still planned to go live at the end of November, currently slated for a November 19th release.
