Just a few weeks after its fifteenth birthday, WordPress has broken its previous record and now powers an incredible 30% of the web’s top 10 million websites.
W3Techs is often cited as the most accurate measure of WordPress’ usage and the company’s recent survey confirmed that WordPress is now being used on 30% of the internet’s top 10,000,000 websites as measured by Alexa. According to W3Techs’ research, WordPress usage also accounts for 60.2% of all websites whose CMS is known, representing over 13% growth since 2011.
With the combined power of WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress.org sites, this growth shows absolutely no signs of slowing down and both SMEs and global corporations are finding ingenious new ways to use WordPress’ versatility to help their businesses shine online.
The big question left to ponder is when will WordPress reach the elusive 50% milestone? Place your bets!
